Our children carry the very breath and divine connection of our ancestors.

This piece signifies humility.

kneeling back down close to the land

to the level of children.

seeing through their eyes.

speaking with them eye to eye.

never looking down on their spirits

for their spirits are the purest forms to walk on earth.

they carry gifts that are very important

teachings, lessons and wisdom.

the adults listen only with the intention to listen.

to receive each and every word with an open heart.

iniku. this is the way

i often feel that those in leadership are so focused on their own personal gain, money or some immediate gratification that they tend to lose focus away from our future generations. failing to realize on what’s important and how their choices of today will effect the ones decades from now. that really comes up for me as a mother. wishing that “leaders” had chosen better in the past so that my children and their children would be able to live happily in a cleaner, more sustained environment.

For now, i paint this as a reminder for us all.
